Infomobility: geobased guide

Telecom Design has developed a Mobile Platform to the user information in motion (infomobility) which delivers a stream of georeferenced audio and multimedia contents.
Once the service is activated, users can benefit from the flow of information through their mobile devices, as if they were listening to the radio, but with the important difference that what they hear refers to the territory they are going through and watching. While driving change locations and landscapes, update and renew the information, thanks to the GPS geotagging.

  • Report of tourist routes and points of interest
    In the vicinity of the point of interest, directly visible or at least close to the route, the infomobility  system indicates possible itineraries, places and attractions within easy reach.
  • The algorithm: geo-based, ranking, push notification
    An automatic rotation of the information manages individual nuclei and informative narrative, proposing not only in the appropriate geographical point, but also distributing them in relation to the speed, the priority information (themes, expressed interests, weather, traffic, etc …), and taking account the direction of travel.
  • Priority channel audio push
    The basic assumption is the ergonomic use of the platform of infomobility while driving automobile, on two wheels or moving pedestrian. Telecom Design takes part in the European research project ASTUTE, dedicated to infomobility.
    The mobile user can not interact actively, read text or look at pictures, the aim is then to focus on the audio channel: the information is read by voice (using mp3 read by speakers, or text to speech). The platform delivers content in PUSH mode, that is, through automatic defined by an algorithm that is based on several criteria of organization and priority of information (location, theme, situation, personalization …). However, for other methods of consultation more interactive (by passengers, or for use before or after the trip), the system also allows you to read the texts, and provides for the transmission of images, which can be synchronized to audio.
  • Local based information
    The information is organized first of all in relation to the georeferencing of tourist movement. Parameters are defined distribution areas in which send specific information (cell local tourist areas or administrative divisions…). When the visitor enters an area or subarea, the algorithm defines what content to convey. Obviously, according to a publishing schedule and parameters that can be modified with respect to several factors.
  • Info rotation
    The rotation of such information allows to propose questions in the same section of motorway, different information on the outward journey and return.
    The speed of movement is a key managed by the algorithm: if the user moves quickly from one cell to another local information must not be interrupted. Conversely if the user is stopped (for example in the queue) the information units do not have to repeat. Is a hierarchy of information, related to specific geographical areas or more general.
